A new object, listed to be confirmed on the PCCP as comet, was observed by me with my 0.4-m f/3.8 newton telescope on 22 oct. 2020. I was able to confirm and report the comet appearance: “a possible comet, object appears as a central condensation with elongated coma of 6″x 8″ in direction with p.a. of 308 degrees with magnitude 19.7 in aperture radius of 5 arcsec. There is no tail visible”. Object was later assigned as comet C/2020 U3 (RANKIN).
